School facilities are improved continually. Each classroom has its own computing equipment, which is regularly extended and updated. Children in the prep school have controlled access to the internet to support their learning.

After a successful trial of an interactive whiteboard in the
prep school a further two boards, one of which is located in
the pre-prep department have been installed and the provision of additional boards will continue to be an ongoing project.

Children have access to an extensive collection of books and learning resources and are encouraged to use these both
to support their classroom work and for leisure purposes.
Each classroom has its own fiction library, whilst the non-fiction library is housed centrally, is fully computerised and stored under the Dewey Decimal system. We have over 2000 books, which are continually updated.

“We have 2 book fairs and a book week
every year.”

Bricklehurst offers extensive optional activities, some of
which take place after school. Children have the opportunity
to participate in Spanish classes, Gymnastics, Netball, Football, Tag Rugby, Swimming including synchronised lessons, Cricket, Rounders, Athletics, Tennis, Golf, Karate, Modern Dance, Jazz, Ballet, Art and Craft, Sewing, Pottery, and Lamda examinations.

At break times there is a purpose built playground for the children to use, which is shortly to be extended to include a further adventure trail thanks to the Friends of Bricklehurst.

The Sports field may often be utilised in free time as well as
the tennis and netball court.

Our swimming pool is covered and heated and is utilised for half of the year. A major update of the changing rooms was completed over the summer of 2006 so that we can now boast heated changing rooms with hot showers.

Bricklehurst is very lucky to have such wonderful grounds
and the children are encouraged to take an interest in their beautiful surroundings.

Reception children regularly plant sunflower seeds and gain great satisfaction in following the whole cycle through to seed collection in the following Autumn.

Kindergarten and Year 1 grow beans/herbs/tomatoes etc and very often eat their produce at harvest time.

Other classes use the grounds for environmental science studies; minibeast hunts or observation of the wide variety
of bird and butterfly life may spark off a range of studies including of course, art work.

Year 5 harvested the lavender to make beautiful lavender cushions for presents as part of their design technology
programme. These are just a few examples.
